'Come Here Often?' won Saturday night's Katra Film Series

Our first short, ‘Come Here Often?’ (feat. Andres Monsalve & Emma Barrett), was screened at the Katra Film Series this past Saturday, along nine other short films by upcoming NY-based indie filmmakers. It was a great experience, and the first time I had seen the film screened outside of our own spaces.

We found out yesterday afternoon that among the nine films, ours claimed the most amount of votes! As a result, our film will be screened again at a private screening at the end of the year, and be considered for a screening at the East Harlem Film Festival.

Christina’s First Film “Do Over” (2010)

Just thought people might like to check out my first independent short film from two years ago. I have very mixed feelings about it; but overall I’m very proud and believe it was one of the most valuable experiences for me as a filmmaker because I learned so much through the process of making it. It recently screened at a student festival in Canada and another in Massachusetts. I’m not submitting it to festivals but I would like people to check it out as much as possible. Thankfully, I’ve gotten some really amazing feeedback from viewers.

Christina’s Student Documentary Screens at Festival

Hey guys,

I just thought I’d share this little bit of good news with you. I had no idea that my short documentary screened at the CUNY Asian American Film Festival last night. I submitted it because it was shot in India and, a lot of people don’t realize, I’m half-Indian. But they never notified me whether or not it would be screened. Apparently my name was called up for a certificate and there was just an awkward silence and a lot of looking around haha. I had no clue until a friend who was there texted me asking where the hell I was. The documentary is one that I made in January of 2011 while studying abroad in India for a Documentary Production & Cultural Studies class. We had a lot of restrictions on what we were allowed to document over there, so the topics were predetermined for us. But I’m still very proud of this piece and it was such an honor to be screened and given a shout-out at the festival. My trip to India was quite possibly the most amazing experience of my life; so to have this little bit of remembrance is wonderful.
