Christina Interviewed by New York Filmmakers

Christina Raia is a filmmaker currently residing in Queens. She has made several short films including Do-Over, Come Here Often, and S.K.A. She is currently in pre-production on her first feature: a Kickstarter funded project called Summit. More info about Christina can be found on her website http://www.ChristinaRaia.com. For more about her upcoming feature (and how to help support the production) you can go to http://www.SummitTheMovie.com. I first connected with Sean Mannion during the Summit Kickstarter; he was raising funds for his own film, a short experimental horror titled “Abel and Cain”

He recently began a webseries called New York Filmmakers and invited me to be a guest. It was a lot of fun and I’m really happy with the final product. He interviewed me for an hour and asked over 35 questions, so there’s a chance some of my other answers may pop up in future compilation episodes. But regardless, be sure to check out the site every week to get to know a new filmmaker! We at CongestedCat definitely will; it’s always nice to see what our peers are working on out there, especially in our home-base of New York City.

Kelsey's Script Wins at NY Screenplay Contest

Kelsey Rauber is a really great friend I made in a TV writing class 2 years ago. She was a PA/helping pair of hands for “Come Here Often?” and will be for Summit as well. She officially became a CongestedCat team member when she and I decided to collaborate on a currently untitled comedic webseries that we will produce next year.

She has also written a comedic feature film, About A Donkey, that is quirky, filled with heart, and lots of quippy fun. She submitted it to the New York Screenplay Contest and it was selected as Best Comedy Screenplay! We’re so excited for her and I personally can’t wait to get started on our webseries. And, I have to admit, I’m definitely keeping that feature of hers in the back of my mind; there’s a chance I might be ready to take on my next feature once Summit’s finished!

Once again, Congratulations to Kelsey!

'Come Here Often?' won Saturday night's Katra Film Series

Our first short, ‘Come Here Often?’ (feat. Andres Monsalve & Emma Barrett), was screened at the Katra Film Series this past Saturday, along nine other short films by upcoming NY-based indie filmmakers. It was a great experience, and the first time I had seen the film screened outside of our own spaces.

We found out yesterday afternoon that among the nine films, ours claimed the most amount of votes! As a result, our film will be screened again at a private screening at the end of the year, and be considered for a screening at the East Harlem Film Festival

Thanks to all who came out to support us and the Katra Film Series for hosting the event.
