We've Begun SUMMIT Festival Submissions! (Kickstarter Update)

Hello Wonderful Backers,

As of today, we've submitted Summit to 5 festivals! Submitting to festivals is always a tough call because you can't predict which ones will be into your film. And at $30-$50 each, you really want to choose wisely. The fact of the matter is we've made a no-budget feature with no-name actors & crew, so the odds of getting into even half of what we submit to is a long-shot. But we have to take that shot because the whole point of making this film is to have an audience for it, right? So we're doing our best to target festivals that we believe will take an interest in Summit and be worth submitting to for the audience-building benefits they offer.

In total, we aim to submit to about 15 festivals, depending on how the film is received by our initial submissions. The earliest we'll hear from any is April, so we still have a while before more exciting (and very likely some disappointing) news. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop! In the meantime, we have some fun Behind the Scenes content coming your way.

As always, thank you for your patience & support,

Christina

IndieWorks: November 2014 Recap

Wednesday was the November edition of IndieWorks. We were worried the cold would keep the crowd away, but we had over 40 people in house. We screened 6 original and riveting films by talented local filmmakers, and the night was a big hit. Thank you everyone who came out to support the filmmakers and spend the evening with us. We hope you enjoyed all the films and the opportunity to network with other filmmakers and film enthusiasts!

Also, a huge thank you to Alyssa Meadows for filling in for Chris as the photographer of the night!

The awards go to...

At the end of the evening, we announced our winning filmmakers for both Audience Choice Award & Silver Whiskers Award. The Audience Choice Award is voted upon by all those in attendance, and the Silver Whiskers is judged by the CongestedCat Team based on a system rating 8 categories of Story, Dialogue/Writing, Direction, Acting, Cinematography, Sound, Editing, and Production Value. The Silver Whiskers winner goes on to screen at our end of year Best of Fest event in April, while both winning filmmakers have the option to be featured in our Insider Series

The Silver Whiskers winner also receives $50 towards a crowdfunding campaign on SeedandSpark.com should they use the platform, and both winners received a free subscription to Bright Ideas Magazine. (If YOU would like a subscription for 40% off, feel free to sign up with promo code indieworks.)
